Tunnel Score Leaderboard
What is Tunnel Score?
Tunnel Score measures how similar a pitcher's pitches look coming out of the hand before they diverge. It analyzes release point consistency and initial velocity vectors across all pitch types.
Excellent (85+)
Elite deception - pitches look identical out of hand
Good (70-85)
Strong tunneling - above average deception
Below Avg (<70)
Pitches distinguishable earlier in flight

For each pitch type pair:
1. Calculate release point centroids: (avg_x, avg_y, avg_z) per pitch type
2. Calculate initial velocity centroids: (avg_vx0, avg_vy0, avg_vz0)
3. For each pair, compute 3D Euclidean distance between release points
4. Add normalized velocity direction difference: vel_dist / 100
5. Combined distance: release_dist × 2 + vel_dist
6. Score: 100 - (avg_dist × 30)
Lower distance = better tunneling = higher score. Release point measured in inches from rubber. Velocity vectors (vx0, vy0, vz0) indicate initial trajectory. "vs FB" and "vs Breaking" compare against fastball family or breaking ball family specifically.
